A new program from West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s education team is giving children access to libraries near and far. Library Pathfinders is a virtual program that offers children in grades PK-5 the opportunity to visit their local community library — as well as several libraries across the state of West Virginia. WVPB's current partners include Burnsville Public Library, Mason County Library, Boone-Madison Public Library, Clay County Library and Webster-Addison Public Library.

Children from Bridgeview Elementary and Chesapeake Elementary danced like chickens alongside PBS Kids' Alpha Pig from Super Why! while attending an event that is part of the West Virginia Department of Education's Communities in Schools program on May 14.

Nineteen children from across the Mountain State earned top writing awards in West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s 2021 PBS Kids Writers Contest. These students penned stories and drew images in competition with kids in their grade level from across West Virginia. Winners were presented with certificates, prizes, cupcakes and special entertainment during a private ceremony for parents and their aspiring young authors.

Second-grade teacher Heather Puglisi was presented WVPB's Above And Beyond excellence-in-teaching award this week at Warwood Elementary in Wheeling, West Virginia. She received a monetary award, our signature Blenko blue apple paperweight, a certificate of recognition, and a host of other special gifts made possible by the sponsorship of Advantage Technology.
