Marshall University is receiving a grant to enhance an app created by an associate history professor.

The funding will help further develop the Clio app created by David Trowbridge. The app provides GPS-guided information on historical and cultural landmarks in small towns and large cities across the United States.

The National Endowment for the Humanities has announced $274,000 in grants for two projects in West Virginia.

The recipients are Shepherd University and the nonprofit West Virginia University Research Corp.

They are part of nearly $37 million in grants for 212 humanities projects nationwide.

West Virginia University Research Corporation received a $59,973 grant to develop a search engine for electronic literature. The search engine would link nine international research centers' databases.
