West Virginia's congressional delegation is urging President Donald Trump to approve Gov. Jim Justice's request for a federal disaster declaration for severe storms in the state in February.

U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito and Congressmen David McKinley, Alex Mooney and Evan Jenkins wrote to Trump on Wednesday.

The Cardinal Institute for West Virginia Policy is sponsoring a big intellectual shindig here in Charleston on Thursday with the American Conservative Union. It's called, "West Virginia on the Rise: Rebuilding the Economy, Rebuilding Lives."

The conference features speeches by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, W.Va. Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, and Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.Va.

There also will be panel discussions with national experts on drug abuse, the economy, and changes in the family.

West Virginia’s congressional delegation today came out in support of President Donald Trump's decision to take action in Syria.

Images of devastation began to surface earlier this week after what U.S. officials and observers described as a chemical weapons attack on civilians in Syria by the regime of Bashar al-Assad. An agreement was reached in 2013 with Assad and Russia that all chemical weapons in Syria be destroyed.

West Virginia's Republican congressional and state leaders vowed Monday to work with the incoming Trump administration to push back federal environmental regulations they say limit and threaten their state's energy industry and jobs.

U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito said the Obama administration has overstepped its authority in the energy, financial and other sectors and they expect president-elect Donald Trump to undo many of those regulations with support from lawmakers.

New campaign filings show West Virginia's three Republican incumbents with far more money than Democratic challengers in their campaign accounts.

Filings show Rep. David McKinley's campaign received almost $241,000 from July through September, spent more than $157,000 and still had $705,000 on hand.

Congressman Alex Mooney has been an inspiration for other candidates to run in West Virginia 2nd District.

Mooney's Republican opponent on May 10, along with some of the five Democrats in the primary, cite Mooney's move from Maryland to West Virginia a year before he was elected in 2014 as one reason for their efforts to unseat him this year.

West Virginia’s representatives gave their support to a U.S. House bill that authorizes spending up to $325 billion on transportation projects during the next six years.

After three days of debate and some 100 amendments considered, House Resolution 3763, the Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2015, passed on a vote of 363 to 64. The bill approves more than $300 billion in spending on the country’s transportation projects. It includes $261 billion for roads and bridges.

West Virginia's three Republican congressmen each brought in six-figure fundraising hauls last quarter.

In campaign finance reports, Congressman Evan Jenkins raised $175,500 from July through September, the most out of West Virginia's delegation. The 3rd Congressional District representative ended with $404,900 in his campaign account, and has no challenger for 2016 yet.

The seat in the second Congressional Delegation came up for grabs after Shelley Moore Capito decided to run for the United States Senate.

The enthusiasm at the Mooney campaign’s post-election party in Charles Town was anything but quiet. As soon as the polls closed at 7:30 p.m., supporters showed up in droves.

Throughout the evening, the vote tally between Mooney and Casey remained close, but the Republican’s supporters never faltered in confidence.

  U.S. House Speaker John Boehner is coming to West Virginia to participate in a get-out-the-vote rally with Republican House candidate Alex Mooney.

Mooney's campaign says the one-hour rally will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Paddy's Irish Pub in Charles Town.

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden also is scheduled to speak at the rally.

Democrat Natalie Tennant and Republican Shelley Moore Capito will attend a U.S. Senate candidate forum next week.

State Chamber of Commerce President Steve Roberts says they'll participate in the Aug. 28 event as part of the chamber's annual meeting at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs.

In the 2nd Congressional District, Democrat Nick Casey and Republican Alex Mooney will participate in a chamber forum Aug 29. The same day, Democrat Glen Gainer and Republican Congressman David McKinley will attend a 1st District forum.

  Independent Ed Rabel will be on the November ballot in a 2nd Congressional District race featuring Democrat Nick Casey and Republican Alex Mooney.

Rabel was an award-winning CBS and NBC News correspondent. Rabel says in a news release he collected the 2,269 validated signatures required by law. The Mountain Party has endorsed him.

Rabel was born and raised in Kanawha County.
