Joy to the World performances in three cities this year


Live performances: Thursday, Dec. 12 in Charleston, Friday, Dec. 13 in Elkins, and Saturday, Dec. 14 in Morgantown

Tickets are still available for all three live performances of Joy to the World with Bob Thompson featuring special guest Heather Masse.

Purchase tickets for each venue as follows:

Heather Masse is the guest vocalist for the 21st annual Joy to the World performances.

Heather Masse has performed on Mountain Stage® as a member of The Wailin’ Jennys and Mark O’Connor’s Hot Swing. She trained at the New England Conservatory of Music as a jazz singer and has shared the stage with some of the world’s most acclaimed pop, classical and jazz acts, including Elvis Costello, Wynton Marsalis, Sheryl Crow and the Boston Pops Orchestra. She has been a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, both as a solo performer and as a member of The Jennys. Masse’s latest release, “Lock My Heart” is an album of jazz standards and originals with the legendary pianist, Dick Hyman.

Bob Thompson hosts the 21st annual Joy to the World holiday concert this year in Charleston, Elkins and Morgantown on Dec. 12, 13 and 14.

Now in its 21st year, Joy to the World is an annual live performance holiday jazz program hosted by pianist Bob Thompson and produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting. In addition to a distinguished solo career and leading member of the Charleston-based Bob Thompson Unit. Thompson has also been a member of the Mountain Stage band since 1991.

A Joy to the World radio program featuring music from all three concerts will be broadcast in December 2014.
