Groomers and the Humane Society of the United States are stepping up to care for 60 dogs seized this month from a West Virginia breeder.
The Dominion Post reports that the Humane Society has donated $5,000 and assorted pet supplies to the Preston County Shelter to help care for the dogs.
Wednesday, professional pet groomers from Randolph County came to the shelter to bathe the dogs and trim their nails.
The county seized the dogs from in Terra Alta. Crystal L. Frantz is charged with failing to register as a commercial breeder, cruelty to animals, and dozens of counts of failing to have the dogs vaccinated and not paying county dog taxes.
Officials said last week at a court hearing expenses related to the dogs already were nearing $8,000.
