Parkersburg disruption will result in better range, new frequency

Aug 2, 2019

Our engineers are working diligently to update the entire WVPB television system to the new ATSC3.0 broadcast format. To complete this work safely, we will turn off the Parkersburg transmitter for over-the-air transmission beginning August 1.

The outage could last up to three weeks.

When the work is complete, the area will have a new transmitter with an expanded broadcast range and a new frequency. You may continue to enjoy your favorite programs if you normally watch WVPB through a cable service, satellite subscription or streaming. Radio transmission will not be affected.

Chuck Roberts, CEO and executive director, thanked viewers for their patience as the engineering team works to improve and expand WVPB's signals.
