Former secretary of defense and CIA Director Leon Panetta will headline West Virginia Democrats' biggest annual event.
State Democrats announced Wednesday that Panetta will be the keynote speaker at next month's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.
Panetta served as defense secretary from 2011 to 2013, and CIA director from 2009 to 2011. He managed the military operation that led to Osama bin Laden's death in 2011.
The event will take place Oct. 11 at the Charleston Civic Center.
Later this month, the state GOP is bringing in John Bolton, former ambassador to the United Nations. He served in that role from 2005 to 2006.
The state Republican Party's Freedom Dinner will take place Sept. 19 at the Charleston Marriott Town Center.
