Inside Appalachia Explores Family Holiday Traditions

Listen

On this West Virginia Morning, we get a sneak peek at this week’s episode of Inside Appalachia, where we’ll share some of our favorite holiday stories. We’ll take you to the tiny mountain town of Helvetia, West Virginia, which has a connection to the beloved Christmas classic, “Silent Night.” Eric Douglas and Molly Born report.

Also on today’s show, almost all major holidays around the world revolve around eating special foods together. Health reporter Kara Lofton and fifth-grader Grace Harper explore how these holiday traditions help bring families together.

And we hear the Mountain Stage Song of the Week — songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Seth Glier’s performing “Water On Fire.” The song is a reflection on natural resources, industry and commercialism recorded last October on Mountain Stage.
