On this West Virginia Morning, we have the latest on the explosion at the Belle chemical plant and on coronavirus spread in West Virginia. Also, in this show, the latest episode of Us & Them held a virtual dinner party to discuss even wider political divides after this most recent election.

West Virginia continues to feel the effects of a sharp increase of new coronavirus cases and deaths. As Dave Mistich reports, state health officials reported Wednesday a record number of new daily deaths.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey said his office will join an effort that urges the U.S. Supreme Court to consider “irregularities and unconstitutional actions in this year’s election.” WVPB has the latest.

One person has died after an explosion at a chemical plant outside of Charleston Tuesday night shook surrounding homes and prompted a temporary shelter-in-place order. Liz McCormick has more.

The 2020 election is behind us, but our country seems as divided as ever. This fall, Us & Them host Trey Kay brought together West Virginians with a range of views that span the social and political horizon. They shared a ‘virtual dinner party’ before the election and afterward, got together for a ‘virtual dessert.’ They discussed tough issues : the pandemic, race relations and of course, the election. Here’s an excerpt from the latest Us & Them podcast episode: “Dessert and Dialogue.”
