Challenges Of New Moms: Breastfeeding And Going Back To Work

071720 Challenges Of New Moms: Breastfeeding And Going Back To Work

On this West Virginia Morning, we revisit a story from an award-winning episode of our podcast Inside Appalachia that explores the challenges of being a new mom while balancing work and family. Also, in this show, we hear this week’s Mountain Stage Song of the Week brought to us by Charlie Hunter and Lucy Woodward.

Here at West Virginia Public Broadcasting, we produce our daily news show West Virginia Morning every weekday and our weekend show Inside Appalachia every weekend. Inside Appalachia is a show that’s dedicated to broadcasting beautiful complexities of life in Appalachia. A few weeks ago, WVPB won a national award among all public media outlets for an episode of Inside Appalachia about how many moms struggle with breastfeeding. We highlight one of the stories from that episode. Roxy Todd explored how returning to work after giving birth can be hard, regardless of how parents choose to feed their babies.

Our Mountain Stage Song of the Week comes from Charlie Hunter and Lucy Woodward performing “Be My Husband” live on Mountain Stage.

West Virginia Morning is a production of West Virginia Public Broadcasting which is solely responsible for its content.

Support for our news bureaus comes from West Virginia University, Concord University, and Shepherd University.

Our Appalachia Health News project is made possible with support from CAMC and Marshall Health.

West Virginia Morning is produced with help from Glynis Board, Caitlin Tan, Jessica Lilly, Kara Lofton, Liz McCormick, Dave Mistich, Brittany Patterson, Eric Douglas, Corey Knollinger, Emily Allen, and Roxy Todd.

Glynis Board produced and hosted this show.
