CTC Chancellor Weighs in on 'Last Dollar In' Bill

West Virginia Morning
West Virginia Public Broadcasting

On this West Virginia Morning, the very first Senate bill introduced this session is awaiting action in the House Finance Committee. Senate Bill 1 would provide the “last dollar in” to in-state students seeking education from a community and technical college in West Virginia.

On last night’s episode of “The Legislature Today,” host Suzanne Higgins spoke with Sarah Tucker, Chancellor of the West Virginia Community and Technical College System, to discuss the latest proceedings on this bill and whether she thinks the bill will survive.

Also on today’s show, as Black History Month winds down, West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s program Us & Them presents an episode called “The Black Talk.” The episode examines conversations African American families have with their children about how to stay safe if stopped by police.

The episode also featured a conversation between Us & Them host Trey Kay and Rev. Ron English, former head of the First Baptist Church in Charleston West Virginia. Before coming to Charleston, Rev. English was mentored by Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Trey sat down with Rev. English to talk about that experience.
