Teacher Walk-Out Extends into 2nd Day

West Virginia Morning
West Virginia Public Broadcasting

On this West Virginia Morning, all 55 West Virginia county school systems were closed yesterday and continue to be closed today, because of a two-day work stoppage over teacher salaries and Public Employee Insurance Agency costs. Reporter Dave Mistich breaks all the issues down for us.

We also hear from some families and community organizations who were concerned about child care and access to food during the teach walkout. As Molly Born reports, more than 30 kids from Mingo, Wyoming and McDowell counties spent Thursday at a free day camp in Gilbert.

And we hear Mountain Stage's Song of the Week -- critically-acclaimed mid-westerner Pokey LaFarge performs a rollicking "Hard Times Come and Go".
