Gender Identity Perceptions Changing

West Virginia Morning
West Virginia Public Broadcasting

On this West Virginia Morning, how we think about gender is changing, and Appalachia is not immune. Inside Appalachia host Jessica Lilly spoke with Dr. Darlene Daneker -- an associate professor in the counseling Department at Marshall University. Daneker has authored several peer-reviewed publications on gender identity, and for the past three years, she’s worked to counsel transgender people, both adults and teens.

We also hear Mountain Stage's Song of the Week -- "Living Half to Death," from Mannington native William Matheny's  Strange Constellations, in his solo debut on the show.
