Marshall University Installing American Bison Statue
A new statue of an American bison is being installed on the campus of Marshall University in Huntington, home of the Thundering Herd.
The statue of one of the university's symbols will greet students when they return for the fall semester.
Senior Vice President for Operation/Chief of Staff Brandi Jacobs-Jones said in a news release that students actually first had the idea for the statue during a meeting in April with President Jerome A. Gilbert.
Jacobs says the 6-foot-tall, 375-pound statue is made of recycled cast aluminum. It is symbolically positioned facing northwest toward Old Main, a university landmark.
