Sheriff: Body Recovered is That of Missing Teen
A search team in West Virginia has recovered the body of a teen who had been missing since flooding in June swept her away.
State police Sgt. Drew Pendleton tells news outlets the West Virginia state medical examiner's office identified the body as that of 14-year-old Mykala Phillips. She had been missing and presumed dead since June 23, when a flood swept her away from her family.
The body was found Tuesday afternoon in Greenbrier County. Sheriff Jan Cahill says a bloodhound led searchers to the site where the body was unearthed, about 6 miles from the girl's home.
A total of 23 people died as a result of floods statewide that day, including 15 in Greenbrier County. Phillips was the last missing victim.
