A Pennsylvania school district has donated more than 3,200 pieces of old furniture to flood-affected schools in Kanawha County, along with school supplies.

Furniture donated by the North Allegheny, Pennsylvania school district arrived in Charleston on Thursday. Kanawha County School District spokeswoman Terry Hollandsworth says the donated furniture will be placed in Bridge Elementary and Elkview Middle.

Donated items include chairs, cafeteria tables, teachers’ desks and other furniture. North Allegheny schools spokeswoman Jo Welter says most of the donated furniture is about 15 to 20 years old but is still in decent shape.

Kanawha schools Purchasing Director Alan Cummings says he believes furniture needs are now taken care of.

North Allegheny employees and community members have also contributed school supplies, including about 150 backpacks.
