West Virginia Pro-Union Political Group Brings in $529K

Cash Money

A West Virginia group that can accept big checks for political advertising has raised almost $529,000 from union interests.

West Virginia Family Values reported raising the cash in a campaign finance report tracking money since late last March.

The group brought in the donations through unions for teachers, building and construction trades, steelworkers, engineers and others.

The political group Honest West Virginians gave West Virginia Family Values almost $293,000. Honest West Virginians was similarly funded by unions last election, and spent $1.4 million in ads that aided Democrats and attacked Republicans.

Last cycle, the group Grow WV Inc. similarly spent more than $1.4 million to boost Republicans and attack Democrats. It was funded by GOP groups and business interests.

West Virginia Family Values has spent $15,600, mostly on consulting fees.
