The National Weather Service has issued flood watches and advisories across West Virginia after heavy rainfall overnight and on Christmas morning.
Counties pictured in dark green are under a flood watch until midnight Dec. 25. Counties in light green are under a flood warning.
The West Virginia Department of Transportation has closed dozens of roads and bridges across the state due to water on the roadways.
The National Weather Service has reported that as much as 1 to 1.5 inches of rain fell in the Huntington and Charleston areas. Counties across central West Virginia also saw accumulation at those levels.
Emergency management officials are reporting several small streams leaving their banks and water puddling on roadways, some several feet deep. There are also reports of flood waters reaching homes throughout southern and central West Virginia.
