A man who was shot in the head by a state trooper has ended his legal battle with state police.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports attorneys for Stephen Shawn Krein and the state police agreed Monday to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Krein in Dec. 2010.

U.S. District Judge John Copenhaver signed an order announcing the dismissal. Krein's lawyer, Mike Clifford, would not provide details about the dismissal.

Krein was shot in Dec. 2008 after authorities say he drove toward a trooper while attempting to flee. He was subsequently confined to a wheelchair.

Lawrence Messina, a spokesman for the state police, says state police have agreed to provide accommodations to the family including paying for a handicapped accessible van and helping cover costs for building a ramp at Krein's home.
