Police Issue 222 Citations, Arrest 12 in WVU Students First Weekend
Police arrested a dozen people and issued more than 200 citations during West Virginia University students' first weekend in Morgantown for the fall semester.
Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston says the arrests involved a variety of offenses.
Preliminary figures released by Preston show 86 citations were issued for underage drinking between Thursday and Monday. Police also issued 76 citations for open container violations and 11 citations for littering.
Other citations included nine for possession of marijuana, three for disorderly conduct and six for fake identification.
