Officials at an aerospace company in West Virginia say about 25 employees have been placed on a temporary leave of absence due to a major slowdown on a helicopter program.

The Exponent Telegram reports Aurora Flight Sciences spokesman Chip Sheller says the 60-day furloughs were effective Monday.

Sheller says both production employees and middle management are included in the furloughs, which he says are not expected to exceed 60 days.

Sheller says the company has 136 employees at its Bridgeport facility. Aurora Flight Sciences is based in Manassas, Virginia.

The company also has a manufacturing facility in Columbus, Mississippi, and a research and development center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
