West Virginia Municipal League Meets in Wheeling
300 municipal leaders from around the state are meeting this week in Oglebay Park in Wheeling to talk strategies and compare notes this week during the West Virginia Municipal League's annual summer conference.
High on the list of shared issues throughout the state: home rule, dealing with dilapidated housing and crumbling infrastructure. Meetings and seminars to discuss these and a wide rage of other issues are spread throughout the week-long West Virginia Municipal League conference.
Some of the speakers at this year's event include US senators Joe Manchin and Shelly Moore-Capito as well as US Congressman David McKinley and West Virginia Senate President Bill Cole.
The conference also serves as one of the two annual meeting of the municipal league. Wheeling mayor Andrew McKenzie is set to replace Beckley Councilwoman Ann Worley as the league's new president.
