Unemployment Rates Drop in 49 W.Va. Counties

Unemployment rates dropped in 49 of West Virginia's 55 counties in April according to WorkForce West Virginia.

Lowest Unemployment in the state:

  • Pendleton County  - 4.4 percent
  • Jefferson County - 4.5 percent 
  • Monongalia County - 5.1 percent

Highest Unemployment in the state:

  • McDowell County - 13.9 percent  
  • Mingo County - 13.4 percent 
  • Roane County - 13.1 percent
  • Calhoun County - 13 percent

Unemployment rates rose in six counties.
West Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose four-tenths of a percentage point to 7 percent in April.
