2015 Vandalia Gathering Winners Announced

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Morgantown man has been named West Virginia's biggest liar.

James Froemel won the Biggest Liar competition on Saturday at the 59th annual Vandalia Gathering at the Capitol Complex. Fiona Sullivan of Charleston won the youth liar award.

Tessa Dillon of St. Albans won the old-time fiddle competition for age 59 and under. John Morris of Ivydale won the senior contest.

Matthew Hiser of Spanishburg was named mandolin champion and Rita Hunter of Premier won the bluegrass banjo contest. Martha Turley of Ona won the lap dulcimer contest.

Jesse Pearson won the old-time banjo competition for age 59 and under competition. Paul Gartner of Yawkey won the senior contest.

Dan Kessinger of St. Marys was named flatpick guitar champion. Jake Eddy of Parkersburg won the youth flatpick guitar contest.
