Interim W.Va. Jail Authority Director Named
A corrections official has been named interim executive director of the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority.
Military Affairs and Public Safety Secretary Joe Thornton announced David Farmer's appointment on Tuesday.
Farmer has served as deputy chief of operations for the authority and director of its training academy since August 2014. He previously served as administrator of the South Western Regional Jail and as director of inmate services of the South Central Regional Jail.
Farmer will serve until a permanent executive director is named. He replaces Joe DeLong, whose resignation was effective Tuesday.
DeLong announced in February that he was stepping down pursue other opportunities. He had served as head of the 10-jail system since August 2012.
