WVU’s Student-Run Record Label Signs 3 Bands
West Virginia University’s independent, student-run record label is up and running. Three artists have already signed up.
The new label is called Mon Hills Records.
It’s a professional component of the School of Music’s new online Master of Arts degree in Music Industry. WVU says the program is designed for those who want to build a career in the music business or for working professionals who want to advance their careers.
About 20 students from different schools within the university run the record label’s various departments.
Mon Hills and its artists – Steve Smith, The High Street Jazz Band and the WVU Bluegrass Band – will be introduced at 4 p.m. Monday, March 9, at the university’s Creative Arts Center. All three bands are recording albums that will be released during spring this year.
