Four Sickened While Handling Bag at Charleston Airport
Yeager Airport has reopened following a hazardous material incident that sickened four workers.
Airport director Rick Atkinson tells media outlets that four Delta Global Services employees were exposed to an unknown substance while handling a bag in the Charleston airport's baggage area.
He says the workers experienced shortness of breath and developed what appeared to be a rash. Two drove themselves to a Charleston hospital, where they were decontaminated. The other workers were decontaminated at the airport.
The airport was closed following the incident late Wednesday. It reopened early Thursday morning.
Atkinson says security video is being reviewed to determine who left the bag. He says authorities haven't determined what the substance was.
