Feds Offer to Sell Back Seized Weapons, 1 in W.Va.

Two federal agencies are offering thousands of firearms and thousands of dollars in cash back to the people that had items taken from them in searches and seizures. One firearm and more than $14,000 were taken in West Virginia raids.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the U.S. Secret Service posted official notifications Monday of assets that can possibly be recovered by filing claims with each agency.

The Secret Service lists a bank account seized on Aug. 22 from a Cross Lanes woman. The account is valued at $14,667.25.

ATF lists a Savage 944 shotgun seized on May 13 in Haywood.

The ATF letter stresses that the names of persons or businesses appearing in the notice aren't necessarily criminal defendants or suspects.
