A fire in the 6-story Morris Building in Huntington was contained early Sunday afternoon.
The Huntington Fire Department and several volunteer crews from the area battled the fire in downtown Huntington. The building houses several offices, about 10 residents and two popular restaurants on the bottom floor, Backyard Pizza and the Peddler.
According to local EMS officials everyone safely got out of the building. As predicted storms approached, the fire firefighters had to contend with wind. The Huntington Police Department closed sections of Fourth Avenue, between Eighth and 10th Streets.as Ladder trucks were staged at all angles and alleys of the building to fight the fire.
According to the Huntington fire department the roof was destroyed. The Morris Building is located at 845 4th Avenue.
