Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and Division of Motor Vehicles Acting Commissioner Steve Dale announced Tuesday that many DMVs throughout the state may see less foot traffic as some West Virginians may now have the option to go to the web for vehicle services.
Dale says some customers can now renew their vehicle registration and request a duplicate registration card online. The DMV’s online service portal is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The online vehicle registration renewal service is currently available to residents of 43 West Virginia counties and is limited to passenger vehicles under 10,000 pounds and motorcycles. The online process guides customers through providing proof of tax payment as part of the renewal.
In addition to registration renewals, West Virginians may also access their driver’s license status and view a quick snapshot of their driving record, as well as pay driver’s license reinstatement fees.
The online services portal also provides links to the West Virginia counties that provide online payment of personal property taxes.
