Fairmont manufacturer closure affects 185 workers

Ruskin Air and Sound Control announced Monday they will close their manufacturing plant and office in Fairmont effective July 31, 2014.
Ruskin manufactures commercial and industrial fire and smoke dampers for heating and air conditioning units, which help prevent the spread of fire through duct work in buildings.

In a release, the company sites both a down turn in commercial and industrial construction and a decrease in the interest of building new nuclear plants after the tsunami in Japan as reasons for closing the West Virginia office.

One-hundred and eighty-five employees will be affected by the closure.

Ruskin has been located in Fairmont for 16 years.
