School to Job Connection
The West Virginia Department of Education and its Simulated Workplace Initiatives are connecting students to careers with the training the receive in their Career and Technical Education programs. Four students graduating from their respective programs this year are heading directly to work at the Dutch Miller Automotive Group.
Chris Miller, President of Dutch Miller Auto, declared the economy has a great need for skilled trades and by partnering with the Deparment of Education they have created a direct pipline of qualified students to fill the need for skilled technicians. Chris Miller also announced that the new hires will receive a $500 signing bonus and $1,000 worth of new tools to start their auto technician careers.
This is a great example of education and businesses working together to create career pathways.
