1A Across America: School’s Out For Summer
Schools across America are getting out for the summer. In the past, that would have meant kids running down school halls, emptying backpacks into trash cans and blasting car stereos on the way to the beach.
In a pandemic, the last day of school for many students means simply closing a laptop or mailing that final packet of workbooks.
As the school year comes to a close, we take a look at lessons school districts learned teaching students remotely.
Is distance learning an effective teaching method on its own? Or is some mix of in-person classroom learning a must for children to really get an education?
We explore these questions and look ahead to the upcoming school year to get sense of the question every parent is asking: Will schools reopen this fall?
1A Across America is funded through a grant from The Corporation for Public Broadcasting. CPB is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967 that is the steward of the federal government’s investment in public broadcasting.
